Ancient Egyptian Technology
Pyramids of Giza
The pyramids of Giza are the most famous monuments from ancient Egypt, dating back to circa 2585-2510 bce. Despite their immense size and complexity, the ancient Egyptians constructed these pyramids using only simple tools and techniques, such as ropes and levers. There is no evidence to suggest that they used pulleys, even though they may have had knowledge of them.
Archimedes Screw-Type Pump
Some historians believe that Archimedes did not invent the screw-type pump, but rather saw an example of the device in Egypt. The screw-type pump is a water-lifting device that consists of a spiral-shaped screw enclosed within a tube. When the screw is turned, it scoops up water from the bottom of the tube and lifts it to the top.
